Recognizing the important role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive American workforce, this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM) theme is “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.”

On this day, the world concentrates its efforts on creating awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, which is among the most prevalent forms of dementia – a set of disorders that disrupt mental function.

Each year, the United States observes National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

September is observed as Blood Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness and funds for research.

August is National Minority Donor Awareness Month (NMDAM), when we call attention to the disparities between the number of organ donors and the number of minorities, including African American, Latinx, and Asian Americans, in need of life-saving organs and tissues.

This July, CASSS recognizes Sarcoma Awareness Month, created to help raise awareness of this disease and all the people affected by it.

Today is International Women in Engineering Day in which CASSS will join the celebration of the amazing work that women engineers around the world are doing to support lives and livelihoods every day.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.

To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, I am pleased to take the opportunity to recognize the contributions and achievements to the CASSS community by Asians and Pacific Islanders from around the globe.

This year, we recognize National Mental Health Awareness month – established by Mental Health America (MHA) in 1949 - and its mission to spread the word about mental health and mental health conditions.
