Last year as CASSS Executive Director, I wrote that 2023 was a year of change and opportunity. Now, at the conclusion of 2024, I remain optimistic that positive change and opportunity persist but moving into 2025.

It’s that time – the calendar shows that it is late December, when typically, we review the year behind us and look forward to the year ahead of us.

We would be wasting a great opportunity if we didn’t examine ways to make sure our committees and work groups are representative groups, offering multiple perspectives from which we can make better decisions.

There is a thread of excellence and pride running through CASSS. The question to ask: how do you interpret this among the trends and best practices in the management of professional societies?

Those of you who know me are aware that I have been blessed to work with associations and professional societies for over 20 years. As you might expect, I am a promoter of and advocate for them, and need no convincing that associations and professional societies are powerful, effective, and valuable to society.

When I started with CASSS, it didn’t take long to realize that while CASSS does many things well, perhaps the best thing we do is hold effective, impactful, and well-respected meetings.

Along with dedicated volunteer leaders and a very talented staff team, Stephanie has helped build a strong identity and culture at CASSS as a community of professionals in the field of biopharmaceutical development and regulation.

Beyond associations, the International Day of Education reminds us of the role education plays in breaking boundaries between cultures and countries and maintaining peace and equality.

December 27 is International Day of Epidemic Preparedness. This annual event serves as a reminder of the urgent need to have resilient and robust health systems – as well as innovative approaches that will make up the next frontier in CMC and biopharmaceutical development.

Associations are unique organizations. However, at CASSS it is the membership structure that makes us unique. Basic membership in CASSS is free for all who participate in our conferences.
