Norman Dovichi is named the 2022 CE Pharm Award Winner.

The CE Pharm Award recognizes an individual for sustained and significant contribution to the practical application of capillary electrophoresis (CE) to the analysis of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products. It is awarded annually at the CASSS CE Pharm meeting.

Norman Dovichi was selected by the CE Pharm Scientific Organizing Committee for his many accomplishments in the capillary electrophoresis community. He is an outstanding mentor and CE leader, contributing significantly to the Capillary gel electrophoresis methods for DNA sequencing. His laboratory has a long history of developing and applying analytical technology for ultrasensitive proteomics. This includes the development of capillary array electrophoresis with laser induced fluorescence detection in a sheath flow cuvette which was the primary analytical instrument used in sequencing the genome for the Human Genome Project. He has contributed to analytical chemistry research for almost four decades with over 300 publications and 19,000 citations. Norman is currently an Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame.

CE Pharm provides an interactive forum for the discussion of CE in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, including regulatory considerations. The forum also provides a venue for industrial CE practitioners to meet, network, and exchange knowledge for mutual education. This year’s meeting was held virtually September 19-21, 2022 in Portland, Oregon, USA.
