CASSS is proud to honor Yeongseo Lim as the Frantisek Svec Fellowship for Advanced Training 2026 Recipient.
The Frantisek Svec Fellowship for Advanced Training fosters future leaders in biopharmaceutical development by providing resources to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers for advanced training in the broad fields of biopharmaceutical sciences and technology. The fellowship honors and embraces the legacy of Frantisek Svec.
Lim is currently working on her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, in the lab of Jordan J. Green.
In recommending Lim for the fellowship, Dr. Jordan J. Green said, "She has consistently demonstrated leadership, scientific rigor, research creativity and productivity, strong written and oral communication skills, curiosity and impact, and a commitment to translation of her work into real-world impact in the community. Moreover, since she first joined my lab, she has shown dedication to collaborative translational work focused on advancing technologies from our lab to patients."
When asked how this learning opportunity would benefit her career, Lim responded, "I was interested in this opportunity because the Frantisek Svec Fellowship provides unique training that extends beyond the scope of my Ph.D. to complement my research. My doctoral work integrates PBAE nanoparticle engineering, nonviral gene delivery, cancer immunotherapy, and single-cell profiling of treatment resistance, but my training has been primarily experimental. The fellowship will enable me to gain skills in spatial and multimodal omics to transform how I study therapeutic resistance and AI-guided materials discovery to fundamentally change how I approach nanoparticle design. Importantly, both training opportunities help bridge the gap between basic discovery research and translational applications, a connection that is essential for biopharmaceutical development but not typically central to Ph.D. training. This fellowship provides early-career exposure to cutting-edge techniques, accelerating my development as an independent scientist capable of translating discoveries into therapies that benefit patients".
The Frantisek Svec Fellowship for Advanced Training is awarded to support innovative learning opportunities. Applications are judged on the impact of the proposed support by the fellowship funds to expand the scope of the applicants’ current activities. Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 to be used to pay enrollment fees, travel, living expenses, and materials that support the objective of the fellowship application.
