For 30 years, the CASSS WCBP Symposium has brought people together to exchange ideas, ask difficult questions, and build relationships across industry and regulatory agencies. The meeting has grown over three decades, but its purpose remains the same: creating a place where open conversation can help move the biopharmaceutical community forward.
A new open-access story from International Pharmaceutical Quality (IPQ) offers a timely look at that impact. The feature revisits the closing regulatory session at WCBP 2026, where speakers explored how better organized information and stronger international cooperation could make regulatory work more efficient and more consistent around the world.

The session on "Modernizing CMC Regulatory Submissions" brought together perspectives from Gilead’s Sarah Pope Miksinski, Roche’s Rodrigo Palacios, FDA’s Willie Wilson, and NNIT’s Kåre Hyttel. Each speaker approached the conversation from a different angle, but a common theme emerged that progress depends on people and organizations sharing what they have learned and working toward solutions together.
That theme will feel familiar to anyone who has attended a CASSS meeting. WCBP is known not only for the ideas presented from the stage, but also for the thoughtful questions, candid panel discussions, and connections that continue well beyond the meeting. The IPQ story captures how one WCBP session can contribute to a much larger international conversation.
It also places the 2026 discussion in a broader history. The feature includes a bibliography of related IPQ coverage dating back to 2010, with many stories originating from CASSS meetings. Together, they show how topics first raised at meetings can develop over time and be shaped by continuous dialogue, practical experience, and collaboration across the global community.
IPQ has made the story openly available so smaller companies, regulators around the world, and scientists outside its subscriber community can all benefit from the discussion.
