Share |

CASSS has announced the 2019 recipient of of the Svec Fellowship – Kateřina Fikarová.

Fellowship for Innovative Studies was created in 2016 to introduce graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to the broad range of possibilities in the field of biopharmaceutical science and technology by encouraging cross-training and innovative learning opportunities – and thereby helping to nurture future leaders in the field.

Kateřina Fikarová, from Charles University in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, will be applying her award towards a 4 month research stay at the University of Tasmania under the supervision of Dr. Fernando Maya. She’ll continue her work in chromatographic separation, exploring a new generation of hybrid materials combining organic polymer monoliths and porous crystals based on metal-organic frameworks to allow for the separation of biopharmaceuticals with high efficiency.

In her recommendation, Associate Professor Dr. Hana Sklenářová praised Katerina’s initiative and her “interest in getting extra knowledge and having good skills in the laboratory.”

The Svec Fellowship for Innovative Studies is awarded to support innovative learning opportunities. Applications are judged on the creativity of the applicant to utilize the fellowship funds to extend their research program beyond its current scope. Applicants may apply for up to $5,000, which is to be applied to academic and scholarly purposes.
