Next Generation Investigator Awards for Graduate Students, Post-doctoral Researchers,
and (New!) Early Career Industrial Scientists

CASSS recognizes the challenges faced by graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career professionals in biopharmaceutical development in launching and navigating your career and building your professional network, especially now during coronavirus related disruptions. Through our Next Generation Investigator (NGI) Awards, CASSS supports participation in our family of conferences and forums by offering a limited number of travel awards to in-person meetings and waived registrations.

CASSS conferences tend to be small, collegial events during which Next Generation Investigator Award recipients can network with leading industrial and government researchers, the developers of cutting-edge instrumentation and methods, as well as biotherapeutic regulators and policy makers. Many recipients of CASSS awards have met their future employers at our events.

We encourage you to apply for support to participate in our virtual conferences and forums and look forward to you continuing to engage with CASSS when our face-to-face conferences and forums resume.

Am I a Next Generation Investigator (NGI)?

CASSS defines NGIs as individuals that are either:
• Currently in full (or nearly full)-time study for a formal academic qualification (e.g. degree, PhD), or
• Less than 4 years from the commencement of their first postdoctoral or first professional industrial or governmental position.

NGIs can be in academia, government, industry or any other organization that participates in the field of  biopharmaceutical development, and may be based anywhere in the world. Career breaks will be recognized, as will individuals whose career has spanned a break due to caring responsibilities or personal circumstances e.g. a period of parental/adoption leave, family commitments, illness, or other exceptional circumstances.

Please contact casss@casss.org or call the CASSS office at 510-428-0470 if you have questions or require additional information.
