Linda Mansouria interviewed J.R. Dobbins as our Featured CASSS Member and here are the questions and his responses:

1.  How long have you been with your current organization and/or in your current position?

I have been at Eli Lilly and Company for 22 years and in the Global Regulatory Affairs CMC          organization for 12 years.

2.  What was the motivation to bring you to work as a volunteer for CASSS on the CMC/WCBP Committees?

After attending my first WCBP conference several years ago, I immediately knew that I wanted      to get more deeply involved.  It's the people, the relevance of the subject matter, and the                overall mission we all share of advancing science to bring new biotherapeutics to the patient.

3.  What's your hometown?

Warsaw, Indiana (Unofficially known as the Orthopedic Capitol of the world)

4.  Where were you raised?

     Born and raised in Indiana.

5.  What do you do to relax?

I don't need much downtime.  I get my relaxation from exercising, watching my boys play              sports, and going to various sporting events with family and friends.

6.  Do you have any hobbies?

     Yes, basketball and golf.

7.  What's your favorite type of food?

Steak, Seafood, Mexican, Chinese....(I like food).

8.  Do you speak any languages besides English?

No, unless "Hoosier" English counts as a language?

9.  Do you have any children?  Pets?

Yes, 2 boys and 1 dog

10.  What was the last movie you saw in the theatre and loved?

Embarrassed to say I have not seen a movie in a theater lately.  Lately our theatre has been in      a high school gym watching our son play basketball on the weekends.

11.  What's your favorite singer or band?

This is a hard one.  I will go with a native Hoosier, John Mellencamp

12.  If you could meet any famous person or historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask/tell him/her?

Watson and Crick.  As a Biochemist, I have always been fascinated by their work in the                discovery of DNA without our modern day tools.  I would like to simply say "thank you" as            their discovery continues to be foundational to the work that we do today.

13.  What's your favorite quote?

There are two quotes/mottos that I really like:
"If you don't like the results, then you need to change the inputs"  My simple version of                 Einstein's quote on insanity.

"Do something good today."  This is a simple motto I try to live by and something we try to           instill in our kids.  At the end of the day, I like to ask what good did you do today? - and no           they can't ask Siri,
