Knowledge Sharing in the time of COVID-19

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has rapidly impacted every area of life, the Biopharma industry has launched into overdrive in search of treatments and an eventual vaccine.  Many of you are engaged in this mission, while also working remotely and juggling the obligations of childcare (and education) or taking care of other family members.  We are all seeking ways to adapt.

CASSS remains committed to our mission of bringing people together to solve CMC and technical challenges in the development of biologically derived medicines.  These important conversations are needed now more than ever – but we, too, must adapt.  The Board of Directors met this week and endorsed efforts to reimagine our upcoming conferences as virtual events.  While recognizing the interactive and meaningful experience of our physical meetings will not be fully replaced, the disruptive impact of Covid-19 has shown that, like the Biopharma industry itself, CASSS must expand its toolkit.

We are currently working with the scientific organizing committees to convert the Bioassays and CMC Strategy Forum Europe meetings to virtual meetings.  Both will feature the same high-quality and relevant talks you’ve come to expect from CASSS.  And they will have plenty of opportunity for discussions with the speakers, panelists and other attendees – albeit in the form of written (but real-time) questions and live chats.

We hope you’ll join us in this opportunity to embrace innovation and change.  Our hope is that even after we’re able to resume our physical conferences, we’ll have learned lessons and developed new tools for maintaining engagement beyond the boundaries of the face-to-face meetings.  We invite your feedback through our short survey on the elements of CASSS that are most important to you.

Like all of you, the CASSS staff are working from home, performing their usual duties in support of our mission.  Be assured that we will continue to do all that we can in support of you and the CASSS Community. You may reach us through our regular email and telephone numbers throughout the shelter in place order.

For the most up-to-date information on each of our conferences, please check their respective pages.

• Analytical Technologies Europe, Lisbon, Portugal
Originally scheduled for 10 – 13 March has been rescheduled to 3-6 November 2020.
• Higher Order Structure, Gaithersburg, MD, USA - April 20 - 22, 2020
Postponed until 2021.  New dates will be announced as soon as they are available.

We will be announcing virtual options for the following meetings shortly:
• Bioassays, Gaithersburg, MD, USA - April 26 - 28, 2020
• CMC Strategy Forum Europe, Stockholm, Sweden, May 11 - 13, 2020

We continue to work with the scientific organizing committees to build strong, relevant programs for the remaining CASSS conferences in 2020.  As of now they are being planned as face-to-face events.  We will continue to monitor and follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and WHO when making decisions about each of them.  Our priority is the health and safety of our members and our staff.

Thank you for your patience as we are trying to make the best decisions for each situation.

We will continue to provide updated information here as it is available.
