CASSS – Sharing Science Solutions is pleased to announce that Nadine Ritter, President and Senior Analytical Advisor for Global Biotech Experts, LLC, has been elected President of the CASSS Board of Directors.

During her presidency, Ritter looks forward to taking CASSS into the new decade with continuing attention to the core objectives of enabling regulatory capacity building, increasing knowledge-sharing opportunities, and expanding global access to these important elements for both legacy and emerging biopharmaceutical products.  “Over the last two decades, CASSS has succeeded in facilitating exemplary scientific, quality and regulatory interactions based on the vision of our founders, the leadership decisions of our board, the professional support of our staff, and the efforts of our numerous stakeholders. The Board of Directors is committed to continuing that legacy, and I am delighted to have been elected as its next President.”

“Last year, CASSS made major investments in infrastructure to assure we can continue to provide the highest quality meetings, discussion groups and publications using the latest technologies for sharing information and promoting interactions around the world,” Ritter said. “However, as a non-profit organization, we do not need - or want - to grow simply for growth’s sake. In fact, CASSS has been very conservative and deliberate in making changes over the years to ensure we can maintain the highest standards. CASSS’s expanded efforts have been in direct response to the growth of biopharmaceutical sciences in terms of new product modalities, increased number of products being developed, and convergence of regional and global biopharma regulations.

Ritter also looks forward over the next two years to creating more ways to leverage the talents of CASSS members from all regions. “As a volunteer-led professional organization, CASSS’s greatest strength is the enthusiastic engagement of its scientific members in the development of programs and publications for sharing knowledge and experiences. In that regard, CASSS members are among our most critical assets.”

Nadine Ritter has been a CASSS member since 1996.  She was a long-time member of the WCBP Program Committee, selected as the industry co-lead for WCBP 2006. She was a co-founder of the CMC Strategy Forum in 2002, chairing ten CMC Forums and co-authoring numerous CMC Forum publications. She a past member of the PDA BioAB, where she recently co-chaired the 2019 International Pharmacopeial Harmonization Conference with leaders from EDQM.  Nadine is a charter member of the Editorial Board of BioProcess International, and conducts editorial reviews for J Pharm Sci and other biopharmaceutical journals.

Nadine has a MS-Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from Rice University, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center – Houston in bone biology. She was a senior scientist at Abbott Laboratories in Chicago before becoming Director of Analytical Services at BioReliance.  She then worked with Biologics Consulting Group for ten years before her current role. She is the author of over 35 peer-reviewed book chapters and articles in academic and industry publications, and has delivered award-winning training sessions for the biopharma industry in CMC analytics and laboratory compliance.

In other changes to CASSS volunteer leadership, Julia Edwards was elected Vice President.  Edwards is the Chief of Staff, Advisor, Pharma Technical Regulatory for Genentech, a Member of the Roche Group.  She has been an active CASSS member for more than fifteen years and credits that engagement with helping build a network that has supported and enhanced her career.  The complete board roster can be found at
