The Member Spotlight Q&A is part of an ongoing CASSS series, in which we invite members to meet other members of the CASSS Community.

This month, we turn our Member Spotlight on Ana Padua, CASSS volunteer and Associate Director of Global Regulatory Affairs CMC Regulatory Intelligence at Merck Group

Q: How long have you been with your current organization and/or position?

Three months – I just moved company – but I’ve been working in pharmaceutical industry for more than 18 years.

Q:  What was your motivation to volunteer with CASSS?

CASSS is really at the forefront of exchanging knowledge for the best regulatory solutions that benefit both patients and wider society.

Q:  Where did you grow up? Brazil.

Q:  What do you do to relax? Do you have any hobbies?

I like to be with family friends, drink wine, meditate, do Pilates, walk, and enjoy nature.

Q:  What's your favorite type of food?

All types. I like everything except mango.

Q:  Do you speak any languages besides English?

Yes, Portuguese and Spanish

Q:  Do you have any children? Pets?

Two lovely dogs.

Q:  What’s your favorite type of music?

It depends on the occasion. All kinds, except funk and electronic.

Q:  What was the last movie you saw in the theater or book you read and loved?

Olhai os lirios do campo, in Portuguese.

Q:  What famous person do you admire and why?

Roger Federer for his discipline, empathy, humility, and emotional intelligence.

Q:  What’s your favorite destination to travel to?

For me, the destination is not the most important part. I like being anywhere with the people that I love without big risks.

Q:  What would people be surprised to know about you?

I love political discussions. I believe that it’s really important for all of us to be engaged and aware of what politicians are doing. So many lives depend on their decisions, so we need to be conscious about that, and take our role – as voters – very seriously.
