Alexander YarawskyUniversity of Cincinnati College of Medicine

"The Higher Order Structure conference was a unique experience for me. Having a project centered around protein assembly meant that many of the techniques presented were extremely relevant to my interests. There were many presenters from industry, which provided insight into the type of work involved in pharmaceutical endeavors. Lastly, the roundtable discussions and CASSS Connection program were extremely valuable in terms of exposure to the types of thinking that are useful in an industry setting, as well as offering great networking opportunities."
                                                                                                                                                        -Alexander Yarawsky

"I would like to thank the CASSS committee for giving me the opportunity to participate at the AT Europe 2018 meeting in Barcelona. The well-organized conference offered a nice atmosphere for both presenting my recent work and interacting with interesting scientists. The roundtable discussions especially turned out to be a great tool for networking. I would like to conclude that I feel honored about being selected for this grant and recommend all the other young scientists to apply as well."

                                                                                                                                                                -Matthias Stein

     Martin Pattky, HES-SO Valais Wallis
Quantification of Endotoxins in Protein Samples

"AT Europe 2018 in Barcelona will always remain a unique and extremely positive experience for me. The scientific program was a really well rounded combination of seminars, oral presentations, round table discussions, and poster sessions. At the same time, even though the program was very tight, there were enough opportunities to regain energy between the different sessions. I was really impressed and positively surprised by the very open and constructive discussions which were held at the end of each session and provided further insight on various important analytical subjects with high relevance for the pharmaceutical industry. The overall atmosphere was very open minded and allowed exchange with various experts from universities, companies and regulators. I am grateful for the opportunity to benefit from the input of other conference participants and to present my current research projects during the poster session. Furthermore, I want to express my gratitude to CASSS for the generous travel grant and to all CASSS members for their friendly support during the last month and especially during the conference."

                                                                                                                                                          -Martin Pattky

"Presenting my work at WCBP was a truly special opportunity to get feedback from regulators and industry professionals. I had great conversations with a wide cross-section of scientists from around the world. I could see that my research was quite different from the majority of other presenters, yet I was welcomed warmly and heartily encouraged by all my interactions with CASSS members and administrators. Just as impactful were the numerous side meetings I organized with members around DC and at the FDA. Those meetings hinged on the participation of WCBP's unique collection of attendees. The generosity of this grant made all these valuable interactions possible and for that, I am very grateful!"

Isomeric Separation of Positively Labeled N-glycans by CE-ESI-MS

"As a PhD-student working on CE and MS applications I want to thank CASSS and the committee members of Mass Spec and CE Pharm for the opportunity to attend the sequential symposia for the very first time and gain a better insight how MS and CE are used in the industry as well what the current challenges are. Both symposia were really well organized, there was a great atmosphere and all attendees were interested and open for a discussion. This allowed me to interact with many experienced researchers from diverse research areas, receive feedback on my presentations and to broaden my knowledge and connections. I feel honoured and grateful that I received the travel grant and I am excited to use my gained experience and knowledge for future research as well for my role as a committee member in the newly established NLab discussion group supported by the CASSS organization."
